Plas Yn Rhiw Reviews
Magical - beyond explanation Sep 10, 2010
I am sure there are places whch, for you, are very special indeed and yet you would feel that anything you could say to explain this would be quite inadequate. Not nly is that true of Plas yn Rhiw for both of us but we ave met a number of people who have seen it and who feel the same.
As I have, very unusually, given a website that is purely historical you might want to look at http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-plasynrhiw as well.
For some time, until very recently, the 'main' road from Rhiw village to Plas yn Rhiw was blocked by a landslide and a very dodgy, if beautiful, route had to be followed. Now that is reopened and forms the way from Aberdaron. The route from the east is harder to describe but the National Trust does describe it.
In terms of National Trust (a private charity) properties, Plas is certainly not large but you could not doubt that it had been an important residence. The NT has avoied any tmeptation to over-furnish t and you would feel happy to move in next week!
The gardens are also very fine, particularly the herb garden. Behind the house there is an extensive lawn which provides a perfect picnic spot.
