Plansee Bavaria Reviews
When a perfect day becomes magical Sep 03, 2012
Having spent the day exploring ‘Linderhof’ , the second of ‘mad’ king Ludwig II of Bavaria’s three beautiful castles, the day skittering from one highlight to the next…
The castle itself, fantastic! The Gardens, enchanting! The Venus cave, created especially for performances of Wagner’s music – King Ludwig’s favourite composer- unbelievably romantic. The ‘Peacock Throne’ , stunning and exotic!
On this high note, ones’ soul sated with the beauty and tranquillity of it all, a turn in the road reveals the most stunning scene! An alpine lake, snow covered mountains and an emerald green forest right out of a faerytale. From an already incredible adrenalin high ones soul soars akin to an outer body experience.Coming from Linderhoff we saw a sign that said ‘Plansee’, intrigued and still euphoric about the mornings experience, we turned onto the narrow single lane road and was soon winding our way
through the forest with occasional glimpses of snow covered mountain peaks and a fast flowing river in the valley below.
The forest clinging to the side of the mountain like an emerald carpet. Sunshine sending golden sparkles off the still wet leaves.
Closer, the dark trunks and branches stark against the lush green . Frozen in poses reaching for the sky as if trying to draw down the warmth and light of a golden sun.
Huge rocks hunched in the shadows, glistening, wet, menacing yet magnificent.
Colourful mushrooms dancing to a silent music, their fragile presence protected by the hulking rock monsters.
Bird song tinkling through the crystal silence; filling the emptiness of the forest with a vibrant life that resonates inside you.
Ice-green, the lake gold speckled with bouncing, frolicking faeries of light. A divine display of colour and light that leave the senses breathless.
The wind softly rustles through the trees and over the water. Kissing your skin with a faint chill that raises goose bumps of sheer pleasure and anticipation, as for the magnificence of a lover’s body
softly rubbing up against you.
All around the mountains rise. Snow giants majestically looking down on a bejewelled garden.
As the sun sets on this scene of tranquil beauty, we crawl into bed and pull the soft blanket of silence around us as we are lulled to sleep.
