Planet Hollywood Lake Buena Vista Reviews
Iconic restaurant Nov 02, 2008
This is the unmistakable iconic globe shaped building that is located on the West side of Downtown Disney. It is of course movie themed and the first obvious sign of this is the boat 'Jenny' from the film 'Forrest Gump' which is moored outside the building.
It is advisable to book, especially at night because the restaurant gets very busy. You walk up a red carpeted entrance to be met by a greeter who takes your name and confirms your booking, or the wait time if you are a walk in. As you enter the building there is a gift shop where you can buy all manner of Planet Hollywood mementos such as tee shits, mugs, pens, etc. There are 3 floors in the building and movie memorabilia lines the walls in frames and display cases throughout.
You are initially directed to wait for your table in the bar area and a drink is the obvious way to pass the time. Then you are called on the tannoy to be directed to your table. The wait for food isn't too unreasonable and there is plenty to see with large items of movie props hanging from the ceiling and with movie clips playing on large screen tv's.
The menu is unfussy with plenty of choice, with the emphasis on burgers. The food isn't cheap but it is good and you're paying for the experience as much as for the food. The waiters and waitresses are all chirpy and helpful and the ambiance is one of fun.
All in all if you like a little razzamatazz with your food then this is for you, but if it's a quiet meal you're looking for then maybe not. We actually loved it and we were completely taken in by the whole experience.
