This club promises to give you a flavoured Kenyan experience Dec 13, 2008
This club used to be the hotest club in Eldoret about five years ago. It is frequented by middle income locals, university and college students, and occasionally young tourists out for a drink and a hot dance night. Charges usually between Kshs 150 to Kshs 250 ( $2-$4) ppx on Friday and Saturdays depending on the featuring events of the night. Entry is free on other days, but it tends to be rather quiet on weekdays.
Though it has run down slightly in recent years, Places is still is one of the best places (no pun) to unwind in the evening. dont get in any time before 9pm, there will usually be not much action before 10pm. After midnight, the place (no pun) will usually be really packed, so if you would like a table to yourself, get in before 11pm. Music usually a pleasant mix of Localz, hiphop, rock and ocassionally reggae...promises to keep you on your feet and sweating till dawn. the dance floor can be quite crowded at times, the security allows people to dance out of the floor when club is too packed. The girls will usually leave you alone, but if you are a Mzungu (white man), you are more likely to get a few soliciters who want to screw you for less than $5 (am serious!) Ocassionaly for the black guyz, a girl will walk up to you and ask for a dance, or a drink...it is you who will determine what happens after that...dont blame me for anything. In any club in Kenya, becareful...girls have been known to spike unsuspecting revellers drinks...it is best to take with you a trusted friend to watch your drinks when you are on the dance floor. Alternatives sit on the counter and ask the waiter to watch your drinks when you dance. Pick pocketing is very rare, but it has occasionally happened before, so keep an eye on your phone and other small belongings. the safest place for oyur phone is your girl friends hand bag when you are on the dance floor. |
