Pizzeria Al Forno Stavanger Reviews
Warm atmosphere and good food Feb 11, 2012
Pizzeria Al Forno is located in a small street in the heart of Stavanger, in a wooden house built around 1700 AD. The façade was built in 1787, which makes this one of the oldest houses in the city. The restaurant has wooden furnitures, brick walls and teracotta tiles on the floor, which gives the place a nice rustic Italian look.
The name says pizzeria, but they do serve almost anything you can expect in an Italian restaurant, a large variety of pasta and 26 different pizza. At Al Forno you can expect the original tast. Many of the ingredients are imported from Italy and the sauces are homemade. The pizza is the thin crusted one, made in an original Italian stone oven.
I have eaten there a couple of times and have tried the pizza, ravioli and tortilini. The pizza and ravioli were excellent, but the tortilini was a bit too salty. Instead of fresh salmond they had used smoked salmon, which gave the dish a very salty tast.
Al Forno serve a selection of Italian red, white and sparkeling wine. This is accompaied by Italian music, which is not too loud. It´s easy to have a conversation at the same time as you can enjoy this lovely music in the background.
The staff is so friendly, welcoming and helpful. The service has always been very efficient. Whatever you wish to change in the menu there´s never a problem. I don´t know if Al Forno is a family busníness, but you certainly get the feeling of it. They make you feel like you are visiting their home. The cooks and the waiters are always smiling, which contribute to this place´ warm atmosphere.
If you are in Stavanger and looking for Italian food I can reconmend Pizzeria Al Forno.
Prices are: Pizza $25-$35, Pasta $35, Dessert $15
