Pizza Italiano Travel Reviews

Oct 22, 2006
Pizza italiano is located in Orchid de Magu street, its a walking distance away from jetty no.1 or the presidential jetty. In case you dont know where jetty no.1 is just look for the park with the big Maldivian flag flying high. Jetty no. is right on the side. Fronting the jetty is a street, walk until the second intersection and then turn right. voila!..3 doors away is the restaurant. Its easy to find the place, but if youre not sure just take a taxi, although you will never be lost in Male as you can tour the whole island by foot in 30-45 mins by foot. and 10 mins by taxi if there is no traffic.
Anyway, from the name of the restaurant you can already tell whats on the menu. italian appetizer, italian pasta, italian pizza, gelato, teramisu, etc. the restaurant has two floors, the first floor is more closed door with a closed window and a lot of aircondition - dim and cold, but its good when you walk in to the restaurant from a sweaty walk, it relieves you a bit, but then you shiver after a while. the second floor is open area like a terrace and with electric fans on the wall. Sometimes it gets humid but its better than the cold dim room downstairs. The prices of the food is not bad, its actually cheap. A pizza good for two persons will range from 5-8USD. the staff is quick and attentive although, they are not consistent, sometimes the food takes a long time, sometimes its quick! But the trick here is that you just tell the waiter that youre really hungry and they try to make your food as quick as they can. Its a place to go after exhausting yourself from the shopping and walking around all the shops. Definitely a place to visit at least once whilst in Maldives..as there are not so many places to go that the food is familiar. But also, a word of caution, if you have problems with spices or chili - tell the waiter! if not, you'll see!
