Piss Sculpture Prague Reviews
A new spin on Czech writers Sep 26, 2011
Those crazy Czech artists! Always trying to top the previous generation! Art Nouveau and Mucha in the Belle Epoque. Cubism in the interwar years. The Dancing Buildings after Communism. Well, in 2004 along came David Cerny with Piss. A sculpture of two men urinating in a pool shaped like the Czech Republic. Yes, that is correct, the sculptures are indeed in action! Cerny is also famous for his sculptures of the babies at the Prague Tower and other unconventional works of art.
It’s quite a popular attraction in the Little Quarter. The sculpture group is located in a plaza next to the Kafka Museum at Cihelná 2b. The sculptures move and write quotations from famous Czech writers with their streams. You can send a text message to them and they will write your message in the pool!
They never stop, so maybe they’ve had way too much Budweiser Budvar or Pilsner Urquell!
For something completely different in your visit to Prague, don’t miss this!
