getting pissed in pisco...

... no i'm not pissed yet but the title is just too good :) we took the public bus to pisco today which was quite an interesting experience: the busterminal in lima does not feel dodgy at all, the busses are much more comfortable than for example megabus in the uk and they even had two onboard movies - what a pleasant surprise the route was beautiful, across the coastline down to pisco, a small port town in peru. the whole distance of the beach is covered with shantytown like huts and the s...

DAY 1 So I arrived safe and sound. By the time I got here work for the day was finished so just a couple beers around the fire and then it was bed as up early... or so I thought! Turned out there was a hamburger eating contest just about to start and with my love of humburgers I couldnt resist joining in. There were 2 rounds: the first for speed and the second and all out asault to see how many you could stuff down you. I won the speed round; come on! but gave up after 3 burgers in the ...

Lima, Peru -› Pisco, Peru -› ...
Had a fast breakfast and loaded up on our small bus and went south of Pisco to catch a moterboat to see the Ballestas Islands, a National Reserve .  On the way to the islands we went by a large figurine on the side of a hill that is so large it can be seen from 10-12 miles out to sea.  It is known it was there when the Spanish came but no one seems to know who made it or when.  Does not seem related to the Nazca lines.  The picture looks like a candelabro and is kno...

Ballestar islands pt 1

So we got up at something insane like 4am, had our showers, got dressed and went to get the transport for our trip to Ballestar islands.  We was put in a taxi and sent to the bus station, where we caught a bus to Pisco.  It takes a  hour to get to`Pisco, and the drive isnt a uncomfortble ride, unlike the road to Nazca, which is bumps and lumps all the way.  Pisco is a town of no real glamour or outstanding beauty, and for some reason i thought maybe it would be a bit mor...

Pisco was lots of fun, I went there and expected much less, but what I surprise I took, the boat travel to islas ballestas was wonderful, I had never seen so many birds, nor so many sea lions. Then we took a second tour to the peninsula, took lots of pictures. The only thing I did not count for was that Pisco was heavily affected by the recent Earthquake there is still a lot of work that needs to get done. After Pisco, I took a bus ride to Huacachina, will write some more tomorrow. Regards...

Welcome to our blog. The plan is to travel round the world in eight months. We'll be starting from New York and seeing some more of North America before continuing to Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand before finishing in Cambodia and coming home for Christmas. We'll do our best to keep it as up-to-date as possible as we go. Bye for now!
