We woke up to the church bells at 6 am but I stayed snuggled under the heavy blankets until 6:30. As Amanda put it, the blankets were so heavy it felt like you were getting x-rays taken. We sat out front watching the market come to life. Booths were set up and tarps lashed on top …

The train ticket to Machu Pichu I arranged yesterday at a nice booking office. I also booked a tour to Pisac in the sacred valley and to the fortress of Ollantaytambo where I would stay for one night, catch the train there and travel to Agua Callientes. But first I'm going to visit the sa…

You can ask people where to take the local bus to Pisac (the sign should say headed to Ollantaytambo). The bus ride should cost about 2 soles but it will most likely be jam-packed. I was squashed up against the door and a woman holding her infant. The infant had a cold and was trying to grab m…

I couldn't have imagined how beautiful a country could be until I saw it for my own eyes. The land is dramatic with colors, terrain, snow filled mountain tops to lush farm lands. Most think of Machu Picchu as being Peru but there is much more.

Welcome to our blog. The plan is to travel round the world in eight months.
We'll be starting from New York and seeing some more of North America before continuing to Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand before finishing in Cambodia and coming home for Christmas.
We'll do our best to keep it as up-to-date as possible as we go.
Bye for now!
