Pirongia Overview

Pirongia is a neat village located south of Hamilton in the Waikato region on the North Island.

The landscape around Pirongia (once the military village of Alexandra) is dominated by the 959m high Mount Pirongia, which is an ancient volcano, and the Waipa River.

A lot of different Maori art and craft can be found here. Furthermore there are neat cafés and picnic spots that are really inviting.
The Historic Visitor Centre and historic walks allow a step back into Pirongia’s past.
Visitors, who are interested in natural aspects will enjoy a dairy farm experience, horse trekking along the Karamu Trail Track or an adventure at the Forest Park Lodge, where abseiling or caving are good fun.

Many varied accommodation possibilities with great views and lovely attractions nearby allow a totally relaxing holiday.
