Pipestem is located in the southeastern West Virginia, 14 miles north of Princeton and 12 miles south of Hinton on West Virgina Route 20. Accommodations include the McKeever Lodge with 113 rooms and suites. A small number of rooms have a great view of the Bluestone Gorge. You must call well in advance to secure one of these rooms. The executive suites offering wet bars, king size beds and some have jacuzzi tubs. There is an indoor heated pool, game room, saunas and exercise room, a full service restaurant and snack bar.

Currently high speed internet access available in approximately half the rooms and in the lobby. My favorite housing is the Mountain Creek Lodge which is accessible by a 3,600 foot long aerial tramway that carries you to the bottom of the Bluestone Gorge.

The Bluestone Gorge facility includes a 30 room lodge (open from May 12 to the last Saturday in October), a gift store and a very fine restaurant (The Mountain Creek). The Mountain Creek Lodge rooms offer cable TV, telephones and views of the Bluestone River. The Mountain Creek Restaurant offers complimentary continental breakfast for guests as well as gourmet dinner dining by reservations. Make your reservations early. Ask for a table at a window. This restaurant draws a crowd. The food is five star, extensive wine list, service cannot be surpassed and there is not a grander room to have a meal. I have had five of the best meals of my life at the Mountain Creek Dining Room. The Dining Room features fine dining each evening with gourmet specialties prepared by Chef Eric Stalnaker, a graduate of the Greenbrier Culinary School.

Pipestem also has 26, 2 to 4 bedroom, fully-equipped cottages, complete with firewood, linens, cookware, tableware, range, oven, microwave, cable, telephone, air conditioning and fireplace.

The campground has 82 sites, 31 with full hookup, 19 electric only, heated bathhouse, laundry, camp store, archery, horseshoes, and a playground that is open year round. There are twenty trails available year round for hiking, cross country skiing or horseback riding. Equipment rental and guided horse rentals are available. Pipestem has two golf courses, an 18-hole par 72 designed by Geoffrey Cornish and a challenging 9-hole par 3 course. Both have rental carts, pro shops, and driving ranges. A PGA Pro is available for lessons. The Nature Center is open year-round and features indigenous plants and animals of West Virgina and several guided programs. The historic Harris Family Homestead is located at the nature center.
