This was a good place to stay.

The cabin was nice and roomy with a kitchen and also a loft.

The only problem was, it was a bit of a mission getting up the hill to the cabin when the road was icy.

There was cable TV so I was happy to watch more MTV!!

Recommended by both our friend and a lady at the Tourist Information Center in Oakhurst, we decided to stay at this lodge by Bass Lake which is located 14 miles from the southern entrance to Yosemite National Park. There are two types of accommodation: Chalets and Suites. We stayed in a Chalet with a kitchen and a living area upstairs, and a bathroom and a bed room downstairs. We paid quite a bit for this chalet (or so we thought), so we were somehow expecting something nicer. It was old and dusty. I saw some cobwebs hanging off ceiling. There was this old style air conditioner on the wall, and once you turned it on, it was so noisy (and dusty from all the dust it is blowing out) that we had to raise our voice to talk to each other. I heard that Suites are nicer with fire places and that some rooms have hot tubs, but I didn’t see them myself. What we were disappointed the most was, however, the lake itself. We were imagining a little lake tucked away in the woods where we can sit around and admire pristine water. Wrong! There were a lot of motor boats zipping around in the water, and what we smelled was not pine trees, but boat fuel… Oh well, it wasn’t our kind of place.
