Pine Ridge Winery is one of the more out of the way wineries in Napa, as it does not reside on the main highway, but off on Silverado Trail. I decided to go after hearing stories about my company's trip there earlier to shmooze with clients. I actually wasn't blown away by the wine. Most of the reds we tasted were Merlots. Don't get me wrong, they tasted good with excellent balance in the palate, but I'm more inclined towards Cabernets and bigger reds personally. The coolest part of the winery are the wine caves. Basically, the winery figured out that evaporation from the wine barrels is lowest in caves, since the humidity is much lower than in regular wine storage rooms. However, their location unfortunately didn't have any caves. So they decided to build their own. Now, they give tours of their caves, as well as the option to host events and enjoy a meal in the caves. All in all, it probably makes for a pretty memorable experience.
