We rijden dan verder naar Pilgrims Rest, dit is een oud goudzoekersdorpje (spoelgoud dorpjie). “Wheelbarrow” Patterron vond hier na een trektocht van 1600 km vanuit de Kaap goud. Hij had deze afstand afgelegd met zijn spullen in een kruiwagen. Zijn reden hiervoor was dat paarden elke dag geld kosten aan voer en dat ze ziek konden worden en dood konden gaan, kruiwagens hebben hier geen last van.
