The famous cafe with the best view Jun 06, 2017
A hill overlooking the Golden Horn in the district of Eyup is called Pierre Loti. It is named after Louis Marie Julien Viaud, a French author, orientalist and traveller, who lived between 1850 and 1923. When he visited Istanbul in 1876, he was impressed with it that he settled there. He used to visit a coffehouse on the hill, which later was named after him in his honour, Pierre Loti Kahvehanesi.

With years after the cafe became frequently visted by tourists. It is famous for the best panoramic view of the Golden Horn- Halic and Eyup. The best way to end the pleasure trip to Eyup is to have a cup of black tea at the cafe for 3,5 TRL.

It can be reached by road or by cable car departing from the shore.

A nice view of the sea, especially enjoyable at one of the restorants/cafes at the top of the hill. My choice would be either in the morning or in the evening, sunrise and sunset preferably. Do not forget the temperatures will be cooler there than other parts of the city since you will be at the top of the hill, with not much shelter from wind blowing from everywhere ;) You can reach the top of the hill either taking a nice path uphill or you can use the sky lift. At the bottom of the hill you can energyze before the trip uphill at one of the nice restaurants or caf├Ęs too. Simit or pogaca are advised if you are in the mood for a quick snack. A bazaar at the bottom of the hill also provides a certain level of attraction.
