This was my first stop in Halifax, and it was a great welcome to the city. Located in the city's harbour, Pier 21 holds an exhibit dedicated to over one million immigrants who came to Canada at that port. Many people go there to trace their roots to grandparents or great-grandparents who came to Canada's shores through Halifax.

I headed back into Halifax to see Pier 21. This is an old wharf building that has been used for the best part of the last century as an immigration checkpoint. It has bags of history covering the influx of migrant workers to incomming Evacuees and outgoing soldiers during the second wrold… Pier 21 and the Maritime museum |

Halifax has a big maritime history and it is displayed in the pier 21 museum where 1 in 5 Canadian’s arrived. It too has the sad history of - Titanic, we did visit the last resting place of some of the Titanic victims … coast to coast final destination canada |
