Pieniński Park Narodowy Reviews
Nice area to relax Jan 12, 2015
Two most famous features of this national park shared by Poland and Slovakia are Dunajec river gorge and Trzy Korony (Three Crowns) peaks.
Relatively remote, I expected it to be a bit wilder and less visited, yet it is a popular destination choice for the locals, especially in the summer. The villages within and surrounding the park provide all the basic tourist infrastructure you may need (such a stark contrast to Croatia!) and even more.
I would definitely recommend taking a rafting tour with traditional wooden rafts on Dunajec river, though it's a bit pricy. The rafts-men had a lot of interesting to tell (bear in mind that most of them do not speak English) and the scenery is gorgeous.
Due to snow and heavy rains in winter and early spring which damaged the paths, the hiking to Three Crows was quite strenuous, yet rewarding experience. Beautiful meadows along the way, great views from the top- but you have to pay 5 PLN, so be prepared to take some cash with you.
The area is great for picnics, sunbathing, biking and many other activities. When it comes to culture and history, there are few castles and a quite interesting defunct monastery Červeny Klaštor.
