Piedmont Park
Piedmont Park Reviews
GLBT Hangout Feb 28, 2009
Piedmont Park is known among locals as a popular hangout for the GLBT population in Atlanta. It’s home to the annual Pride Parade where you will find all kinds of booths, performers, and lots of topless women. The park is located in the heart of midtown and might be a little tricky to find if you aren’t from the area. Parking is a pain in the neck due to limited street parking. It’s best to visit on the weekend when work traffic is at a minimum.

Atlanta's Central Park Oct 05, 2008
New York has Central Park and Atlanta has Piedmont Park. Located in the heart of Midtown, it attracts all kinds of people. Those that want to relax, families that want to picnic, serious rollerbladders, you name it, and you can find them at Piedmont Park.
If you are visiting and do not have a car, it can be tricky to get here as you would have to take Public transit. You can google "MARTA" and you should be able to get directions from this site. If you do have your own car, be aware that parking is a hassle. There is street parking but not much of it, so you will probably have to park at one of the nearby street and walk. On a popular day, you may have to walk a couple miles. During the summertime, there is a festival called Screen on the Green. This is a free event where a huge screen is placed in the park and old movies are shown at dusk. It is wildly popular. |
