Eclectic coffee and dessert spot Jun 02, 2011
The Pied Cow is one of those quintessential Portland eateries. It occupies the ground floor of an old Victorian house in the southeast, complete with a small shrine and a black cat. The waiters are interesting, though service can be slow. It's a laid back place with a funky atmosphere. If you prefer to sit outside, there is a patio with an ample supply of hookahs. It's a bit of a trek from downtown Portland (though only 10 minutes by car), so if you have a few extra days in town and you're looking for something eclectic, stop by this neighborhood coffeehouse. It is worth a visit for it's mysterious vibe and moody music. The shrine (set up in a small room) is a bonus too.
