Picton.
Picton is the gateway to the South Island, the Interisland Ferry from Wellington arrives in picton after a delightful, beautifully scenic cruise through the Marlborough Sounds.
Visitors are greeted in Picton by a cute small town full of interesting cafes built along the waterfront overlooking a lovely foreshore park with childrens play areas, and seats to sit and dream on, and many small boats bobing out on the harbour and a large Marina full of launchs and yachths.
From Picton it is a short 26 km drive to Blenheim the main town in the Provence of Marlborough where there are dozens of wineries to visit.

Waikawa Bay is about 8 km from Picton, It is a very attractive small cove, with a large boat Marina. Population is only about 500 people though during the holiday seasons this doubles with holiday makers. There is a pleasant picnic area and childrens play area, and the bay is safe for swimming. A very good gas barbeque is available on the beach front for a small charge. The idea being; you first catch yourself a fish then you barbeque it and eat it at the tables provided. Catching a s...

We woke up to a down power of rain - the cloud was practically touching the pavement - it didnt bode well for lifting all day. Still it was car hire day -so after the Omega girl lifted us we got our car and hit the road. We decided to head toward Nelson and see what we could see! Which was really not alot to be honest! We drove on toward the start of the Abel Tasman - which is supposedly one of the most spectacular areas in the south island - well l will have to take their word for it cos al...

I lied to you in the last blog. We weren't in a place called Wanaku - it was actually Wanaka!! Its hard getting to grips with the names over here! And we didn't hire bikes the next day either! Instead we drove down the road to a place called Puzzling World. There is a big maze here and a few illusion rooms with cool stuff in them. We amused ourselves in the illusion rooms first and then went to tackle the maze. The aim of the maze is to get to all four coloured corner towers and then back to ...
