A friendly, quiet and clean hostel. Jan 19, 2008
I paid NZ$18 per night for a bed in a dorm (plus an extra $3 for linen, if required).
Located a short distance from the ferry terminal and harbour, this is a pleasant and clean hostel which offers a TV lounge with a selection of videos and DVDs, a large kitchen area (with free tea and coffee), a balcony, internet access, laundry and clean shared showers/bathrooms. It offers lockers for storage of your valuables, but they require a payment of NZ$2 every time you open the door to re-lock it, which isn't ideal. A friendly, quiet and clean hostel. We went for a meal at the Park Cafe Lodge, as it was a pleasant evening we initially sat outside. However we were soon driven inside by the dreaded sandfly who were beginning to eat us alive!!! We drank beer and wrote some postcards while we waited for our food to arrive - it took… The ferry to the South Island! |
