Choosing a sushi restaurant in Tsukiji Fish Market May 27, 2010
Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo, Japan is world famous for their tuna auction, and at the same time the surrounding area itself is home to many restaurants which serves some of the freshest sushi early in the morning. If you're a traveler, you might wonder which sushi restaurant to eat in. Of course you can research recommended sushi restaurants online beforehand. But if you're like me who didn't research, the hard part is finding which one to eat in.

When I was walking around Tsukiji Fish Market trying to find a sushi place to eat at, this Japanese man who works at some sort of pharmacy approached me and another traveler, and gave us a really useful tip on how to find the freshest and the best sushi restaurant we could eat at.

Here was his advice:

1). Find where Tsukiji fish market workers are eating. They are usually wearing black rubber boots, or the sushi owners and chefs will be wearing black rubber boots. So find where the black rubber boot wearing people are hanging out and that’s where you can find the best sushi.

2). The best time to eat is anytime just after 630 am. By that time the tuna auction is over, and the restaurant should have the freshest fish available.

We took his advice and wasn't disappointed.
