Pichincha Volcano Nov 16, 2008
Pretty cool Volcano right outside the city of Quito, Ecuador. The Volcano sit with in a group of Mountain Ranges that surround the city. Pinchincha in very easily accessible. It was about a 15 min taxi ride from the Marriott(Downtown Quito). We took the Cable Cars up to about 4100 meters and hike up to about 4500 meters. The whole landscape up there is like something out a national geographic. It was magical, especially if you don't get up in the mountains much. Beware of the altitude. If keep your energy output lower than you energy input, You should be fine.

About 6, was dropped off to catch a plane to Lima, Peru and some to Santiago, Chile.  We all clapped and wish th…volcanoes of the Western Cordillera, to the west of the Guayllabamba valley, are Illiniza, Atacazo, Pichincha and Pululahua (which has the Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve). First off the Quito airport is located right in the city...so the landing of planes is a regularly performed miracle. There is no room for error on the single runway. Yes I was a bit nervous! This city is surrounded by Mountains and Volcanoes. I too…Volcanoes. I took a ride on the Teleferico (cable car) which last about 10 mins but takes you to an altitude of 4050m. At the top you have an amazing view of the city and of the active Pichincha volcano. They have some great hiking… San Francisco de Quito

Hello all,Today is my first full day in Quito, and that means it time to check things out.  I am staying in the New Town area, which is great for the tourists but could pretty much be set down in any Latin American city.  I've been told that the…volcanos, and this makes for some great backgrounds of some great buildings.  Very photogenic. I got back to the hotel at about 4:30pm, and figured that I could get in one more big thing today.  TeleferiQo is an aerial tram that climbs the slopes of the PichinchaThe Old Town, and Guapulo in Quito.

[ANDREI] Yes, we arrive in Quito and yours truly tries to impress the locals with a burst of that Euro-pop classic, I'm sure you all know the words..The only incident during the short (2 hour) hop from Lima to Quito was the fear that one of our dorm…Pichincha Volcano looming in the near-distance, behind the city - in the words of that Dark Lord of the Sith: "most impressive" (yes, I'm sad). Our taxi was waiting to whisk us to the Posada del Maple hostel in the New City, and I'm glad… Sing me a song about Ecuador...
