Pica Pica Maize Kitchen's Napa Reviews
A "Corny" place to eat Jan 02, 2011
This is a really great little restaurant smacked dab in the middle of this awesome foodie haven. Julien and I decided to grab a bite here and we were not disappointed. They have a very limited menu. It is a very healthy; I guess you can say that the variety of dishes is just right. Pica Pica’s signature dish is the arepa; a grilled corn flour cake, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, stuffed with traditional Venezuelan fillings, such as Pepeada (chicken salad and Venezuelan-style guacamole), Pelu’a (shredded skirt steak and cheese), Dominó (black beans with cheese) or Pabellón (shredded skirt steak beef, black beans and fried plantains).
The simplicity starts with you choosing between three breads, and then you choose what you would like in it. Check their website and look at the menu and you will find everything you need. We decided on the pulled pork and some empanadas. Great choices. You order your food from the bar and then the food is prepared across the way in the kitchen and they will call your name when it’s ready. They have a variety of drinks, both soft and hard, but nothing hot like tea or coffee. You must go to the other end of the market and order those drinks from the coffee shop there.
