Phitsanulok Vacation Guide
The main reason you might end up in Phitsanulok is as a gateway to visiting the Sokhothai Historical Park. Phitsanulok is on the train line between Chiang Mai and Bangkok and is about 7 hours away from each by Rapid train so makes an ideal mid way stop over.
At first glance there isn't much to Phitsanulok but dig a little deeper and a taste of 'real' Thai life is here for the taking. The town really comes alive at night with a nightly market along the river front bustling with food stalls and clothing items. It seems to be the place for locals to be seen.

I don't know the name of the place I stayed in Phitsanulok, but if I did I'd recommend it. There was no English sign.
