Nice walk ! Jan 02, 2012
History :

The Hill of the Muses, south-west of the Acropolis and with a view that sweeps from the Saronic Gulf to the Argolic Hills, is now known as Philopappou Hill. From here you are almost at eye-level with the Acropolis and you have a breathtaking view of the Parthenon. Below, the city stretches out for miles around, extending to the mountains of Parnitha and Imittos. The monument Location map in memory of the Roman Gaius Ioulius Antiochus Philopappos, a benefactor of the town, was put on the top of the hill in 115 AD.

Nice walking area Apr 30, 2011
Philopappou hill is located at the south-west of Acropolis opposite of Acropolis main entrance.

Is about 10 minutes away walking by Thisio train station or Akropolis metro station.

The place is highly recommended for nice walking time, running, relax and breath taking view of Parthenon and all the city of Athens.

Is a green paradise in the center of Athens!

Going to the top of Philopappou hill you will pass from the - prison of Socrates- nice marble square and at the top you will see the Philopappos Monument. From Philopappos Monument you can see all the Athens. Also to this area used to be the long wall of Athenians.

At the dark time is not very clever to go the alone!
