Philomena’s London Reviews
Nice and unpretentious pub Feb 17, 2013
Philomena’s is a nice and not over-crowded Irish pub near Covent Garden located on Great Queen Street. The pub is fairly bright compared to many of the traditional dark pubs. It is a sports pub and there are quite some TV screens inside and it is almost possible to watch a game from all seats in there.
I walked in just after 2.30 pm on a Sunday afternoon and I quickly found a nice seat at table near the end of the quite long bar. I ordered an Italian Peroni and started to watch a football from the English FA cup. There was a relaxing atmosphere inside and I enjoyed the warmth and the game.
People kept on coming in to the pub and many of them were regulars who knew the bartenders. Many of the visitors had traditional British pub meals consisting of some meat and frites. It was a place that I easily could visit again but it didn’t stand out in the crowd.
