Indians travelling into Philippines for short stays, tourism, work, business, transit beyond a certain period of time are compulsorily required to get prior to their travel from India their visa permits from the Cosulate General of Philippines. The consulate office issuing visas was originally in Delhi and the process of sending passports with applications or appearing in Delhi was a time consuming and cumbersome excercise. In my excercise to get visa I found that the Chennai Office of the Philipinnes Consulate issued visas for people residing in the southern states of India and they had to apply only in Chennai for the permit. All documentation and fee details are available in their website or at

Citizens of countries eligible for visa free entry can visit

The Consulate at Chennai is bang opposite the TNPCL building and the Itc hotel very close southwards about 1 km from the Guindy railway station on Mount Road or Anna salai. The nearest bus stand is Guindy rail station stop.

In the Consulate you might come accross several travel agents who service requests for a fee,yet you can do it yourself without any hassle. The application form for tourist visa available from Delhi is not accepted here and you would be given a form prescribed for the consulate from its office here.If you are doing it your self be sure to fill in the application in caps and be present at 9 am and hand over a Xerox copy of the first page of your passport which would be scrutinsed prior to interview.

If all documents, relating to your identity,Bank statement for past 3 months,Return Ticket, proof of stay covering your travel, suffecient foriegn exchange endorsement, xerox copy of PAN card, 3 years income tax returns along with a self attested passport size recent photograph and your original passport is being produced and submitted during the interview, you may be assured of the visa which would be delivered ordinarly within a week or on payment of express fee within three working days.

Go on those in south India who are intending to visit Phillippines, get it,its easy.

Well, India's economy is growing rapidly, so the Philippines should grant visa on arrival for Indian passport holders too. Just my humble opinion.

Thats the difference between an American or European passport or even an ASEAN (Association of South East Asian coutries)passport holder from others.Only 61 countries are eligible for entry into Philippines through visa on arrival and that sadly does not India.
