Philea Resort & Spa Malacca Reviews
Philea Resort & Spa Jul 31, 2015
Stay here if you:
- are looking for a retreat out of the city
- need a place for team building
- want something different (cabin instead of concrete)
- only want to visit the zoo/ butterfly park, which are located very nearby
Avoid if you:
- are a cleanliness freak (bathroom was still wet when we checked in around 7+pm. Corners were not properly cleaned. Hand towels stained).
- are a light sleeper ( rooms are not sound proof, we can hear birds chirping, waterfall (by the pool was noisy), sound of neighbour's TV was as though I was watching it too)
- have no transportation to go to melaka town which is 30 minutes away
This hotel charged at a very high rate, but very stingy. Complimentary drinks (tea, mineral water, 2 cans of soft drinks) are only given upon check in. You can stay for 10 days yet only get 1 set of those.
I usually keep room keys as souvenirs but this hotel charges RM 20 for one! And the room was RM 300++ per night!
WiFi was good but automatically cancels when there's no traffic detected, so you just have to keep logging in.
Continental breakfast included for 2, but I highly recommend you NOT to try. I can't be certain if their kitchen was the culprit, but I was hospitalised for a week for typhoid after my breakfast there on my last morning (review written on my hospital bed).
Despite the many flaws, I still like the cabin stay cos it's one of its kind. Their service was one of the friendliest, but management one of the poorest for the price we paid.
