Phi Phi Vacation Guide

The Phi Phi Islands are a small group in the Andaman Sea, south of Phuket,and well known as the shooting location for "The Beach" movie,staring Leonardo Dicaprio. Much of the film was shot at Maya Bay, Phi Phi Ley. The Phi Phi Islands can be best described by their fine, white sandy beaches and breathtaking rock formations rising from the vivid turquoise waters.

One part of the island is a hot tourist spot and therefore is primarily populated with hotels and resorts. Tonsai Village is the heart of Phi Phi Don and the area to stay if you want to be right in the thick of the action.

The north east coast is much more relaxed and has the best beaches.

Phi Phi Island has a number of activities to keep visitors entertained if relaxing on a beach is not enough. Some of these activities include: scuba diving, snorkeling, climbing, fishing, and sea kayaking. Much like Thailand's other locations, Phi Phi has plenty of massage and spa locations to help visitors relax and enjoy their visit.

Parts of Phi Phi were damaged during the tsunami of 2005, however, tourism is still thriving.
