Phi Phi Relax Beach Resort Ko Phi Phi Don Reviews
very quiet and relaxing, hence the name! Sep 28, 2012
Got off the ferry from Phuket still feeling rotten from eating sushi in bangkok the previous night! vomiting and then feeling sea sick, it wasnt a great start to my paradise break away in luxurious destination of Thailand! the rain was hard too, as we'd arrived in the middle of monsoon season so it was a bit depressing, although the mountains looked spectacular with clouds lingering over their tops.
So anyway, to get to the Relax Beach resort we had to jump on one of the Long Tail boats owned by the resort, as Phi Phi has no roads whatsoever!
the taxi took approx 20 minutes from Tonsai Bay to the right hand side of the island taking in spectacular views of the island plus a first glimpse of Phi Phi Ley.
so we arrived to a smiling cast of staff who made sure our bags were carried to the check in, splash free from the step off the taxi boat. from there we got checked in and handed our key and pointed to the direction of the cabin.
The cabin were hand made from the local wood from the jungle behind the resort, propped up above sea level finished in a traditional thai style according to my thai friend who was very knowledgeble!
So first impressions were very good. A decent sized cabin with a ensuite bathroom, although this was very basic, and had no hot water so showers were quick and a bit painful! what struck me about this resort was how quiet it was. if you are after a party atmosphere then do not come here, as i think you would be very bored!
The resort had a restaurant, a thai massage hut, provided various day trips to the surrounding islands, and rental of scuba equipment. Apart from that it was down to you to entertain yourselves, either lying on the beautiful beach of Phak Nam Bay or travel to Tonsai Bay to get caught up in the vibrant tourist atmosphere on display!
There is a path which takes you up to the viewpoint oh Phi Phi Don, and i would highly recommend you take the 40 or so minutes to climb to the top, although do not attempt it in flip flops, as the path is very basic with no permanent features just made from worn down tracks from the people who walk up, and some parts are quite dangerous due to it being moist and steep in places. wear old trainers and beware of mosquitos, as i got bitten to death!
The staff were the best part of the resort, as they were so friendly and all spoke to some degree understandable English, although i tried my hand at communicating to them in my terribly pronounced Thai i had learned from my Lonely Planet pocket phrasebook.
Negative points about the resort were that if you wanted to travel to Tonsai bay, then taxi's only went there a couple of times a day, with none at night time, so you were pretty much confined to the small beach (as beautiful as it was) was a little boring for me. Check out was at 11am but then the taxi wasn't until 1pm so you had to wait two hours just to go.
there was WiFi, although i think it only got switched on at night time as it never appeared to work that well in the day, with constant blips in the service. also no electricity was switched on until 6pm in the evening until 6am, so if your digital camera had ran out of juice then unfortunately you were stuck until the next day with no battery, so take backup!
All in all, it was good value, and was quiet in Sept-Oct with few people mainly down to the weather with it having the most rain at that time. if your into the bright lights, then stay closer to Tonsai Bay due to the fact that they didnt run any taxi service at night time

Relaxing private beach with nature around
A couple of nights was just right here. Recommended for short stay. Good food with everyday specialty for 300b, no power during the day, 6pm-6am only and no hot water in shower.
Resort is accessed only by long boat or hike through jungle recommended only during daylight. Beach cleaned everyday by resort stuff.
Awesome location.. Very quiet and peaceful. Room cleaned every day. Daily trips, massage, snorkeling and etc
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Short jungle hike to Viewpoint
