Phetpailin is a Thai restaurant in Manchester’s China Town. It is currently my
favourite Thai restaurant in the city, although obviously I haven’t tried them
Phetpailin is small, and slightly away from the centre of China Town. It would
be easy to miss. It is up a set of stairs under and advert for a florist.
Inside, there are lots of thai pictures and some fairy lights.
The service is excellent, and the staff are all very friendly. The food is
great. It is light and nicely spiced, not at all heavy or greasy, and I enjoyed
it a lot. The portion sizes were just right. The tom yum soup was particularly
The restaurant doesn’t have an alcohol license but you can bring your own
alcohol and they won’t charge corkage, which is very generous. This also keeps
the price down. A meal for three people with two courses and lemonade came to a
little over £60.
