One of the best cigar shops in the Netherlands Apr 03, 2008
It has been 2 years since I first discovered this place. Me and some friends from school had to go to the Stedelijk for Art School but instead ended up in this place.

P.G.C Hajenius, which is situated on the 96th of Rokin(about 200m from the Dam) The building is one of the finest on the Rokin, with a splendid Art-Deco interior, fine Italian marble, highly-decorated ornaments, and colossal chandeliers that date from the time when Amsterdam was still lit by gas.

Hajenius specializes in the smaller premium cigars and are all produced on the Island of Java. Except for their home brand they also offer you all the other famous brands(Davidoff Cohiba etc)for an average price but with great comfort. At the back of the house there is a small museum which shows you the history of Hajenius. Over here, you can also sit back and relax while you smoke your cigar and get a free coffee or wine. The Hajenius shop also offers you luxurious accessories from placards to ashtrays.

I personally love to come here at the end of the week and play some cards while enjoying some of their finest cigars. So for all you cigar lovers. While in Amsterdam, this place is a MUST.

A remarkable history Jan 08, 2000
First time i passed the door of that shop in a cold morning back in the january of 2000.I was walking from the Dam square down to the Rokin street trying to find the flower market and to buying some tullips bolves for back home.I stopped in front of Hajenius and without think something i get inside!Oh!!!It was like a trip back in the past!A tobacco shop with a history close to 180 years!!!Hand-made treasures from Sumatra, central America and of course Carribean waiting to discovered! For any aficionado who wish to learn more there is a small museum inside the store with the history of that place. The people were they are working there are very friendly and ready to give you any kind of information about their products!A place to visit!!!
