Jordanian cooking session Feb 27, 2009
Petra Kitchen provides different experience for tourists who are visiting Petra. It offers a dinner cooking session, not really a proper cooking class though.
The price/person is 30JD (40 USD) which is not cheap, it include all the cooking ingredients, drinks except alcohol which we have to pay ourselves.
The class started at 18:pm. They gave us an apron to wear, then the students gathered and the chef explained about the menu for that session. Normally they have 1 soup, 4 different cold mezze (or starter), 1 hot starter and main course.
Then everybody's in charge of 1 dishes (which normally consist of lots of chopping!) and see the chef preparing the main dish.
Not so much cooking practice involve as the chef was doing everything related to seasoning and also some dishes are very simple.
After finished all the cooking, all of the students are seated in a dinner table and the dinner started.
Although it's not really a proper cooking school, but the new experience of cooking new dishes, meeting new people and have a nice dinner with intersting conversation is worth it!
Beside the restaurant it has a souvenir gallery fproduced by local women organization "Made in Jordan"
