Peterhof Overview

Peterhof is situated 29 km west of St. Petersburg on the shote of the Gulf of Finland. The place is famous for the park and palace complex which was created as a summer resedence of Peter the Great. This architectural masterpiece includes an impressive park with three cascades and 150 fountains. In June 2008, Peterhof was recognized as one of the seven wonders of Russia (according to a national poll).

You can get to Peterhof by boat, by bus or by train. The most convenient way (also most expensive)is by boat, which takes you to the park right from the Hermitage embankment. As for the bus, you can catch it at the metro station Avtovo. It takes about 30 minutes to get to Peterhof from St.Petersburg no matter what means of transport you choose.

Visiting Peterhof park is an excellent alternative to walking around the stuffy St-Petersburg, especially in summer.
