Peterhof Vacation Guide
Peterhof is situated 29 km west of St. Petersburg on the Gulf of Finland. The place is famous for the park and palace complex which was created as a summer resedence of Peter the Great and includes an impressive park with 3 cascades and 150 fountains. In June 2008 Peterhof was acknowledged as one of the 7 wonders of Russia (according to national voting).
You can get to Peterhof by boat, by bus or by train. The most convenient way (also most expensive)is by boat which takes you to the park right from the Hermitage embankment. As for the bus, you can catch it at the metro station Avtovo. It takes about 30 min to get to Peterhof from St-Petersburg no matter what means of transport you choose.
Visiting Peterhof park is an excellent alternative to walking around stuffy St-Petersburg, especially in summer.
