Chocolate Festival in Perugia

May 25, 2007 - Nov 20, 2007
My friends and I and most of the students at our school here in Italy went to the EuroChocolate Festival in Perugia which is a city about an hour and a half away from Castiglion Fiorentino.  I was feeling sick that morning so I did not enjoy the train ride.  But once we got to the festival and saw all the booths and tents full of different brands of chocolate I slowly started to feel better.  We had lunch there and I got myself a nice cold Ice Tea drink which was delicious.&nbs...

Today, a group of us had the pleasure of going to the annual chocolate festival in Perugia!!  Perugia is a city about 45 minutes away by train.  We caught the train around 9 this morning and it was packed.  There was a large percentage of American tourists going to the festival...it was even more crowded because it was the first day.  Anyway, we got there, took the bus up the hill and then entered the festival area.  We first went through this old Roman underground bu...

On my way to Rome to meet a friend, I spent 2 days in Perugia, the home of the chocolate. Despite the fact that I was alone, and it was raining and cold the whole time I was there, I fell in love with this little walled city. Every turn was alluring, and I wandered about, getting lost, and found, and lost again. Next time, I must go during the annual chocolate festival.

I volunteered in a little village called Pescosolido - located right between Rome and Naples - for two weeks(August 25th,2007-Septemer 8th,2007). We lived and worked together with the other volunteers and after work (we worked only 4 hours from 8a.m. every morning - cleaning the rooms/helping Maria in the kitchen or Giuseppe in the garden) then spent the afternoons with the guests. Had a lot of fun - can't even describe...Watch the pics and you'll see!!!:-)

Italy was everything that I hoped for ... beautiful, romantic, rich in history, and had the best food and wine that I've ever tasted. Every town had its own character and beauty. I came to love bread, mozarella, olive oil, and sundried tomatoes ... and vino of course!

i've finally managed to escape the oh-so-fascinating world of hedge fund finance, and am now decadently indulging my long-suppressed wanderlust with 15 months on the road and around the world... *note: apart from the odd review (generally of something not found in your standard guide book), this is really more just a map of my travels than a proper blog, but if you want more information on anywhere i`ve been or what i`ve been up to, send me a message and i`ll see if i can rustle something up.

July 9.  Carol’s final meeting was cancelled, so we checked out of the hotel and picked up the car.  Then we headed back to Centro Citta via bus so she could see the Rocca Paolina.  We picked up some lunch fixings at the mercato and picnicked in the Piazza della Repubblica park at the end of the bus line, and listened to some American jazz being performed in the park.  Then we headed back to the hotel to pick up the car and ventured onto the autostrada to Siena.   ...

i'm writing you today from perugia, a medieval town built into the side of a mountain... capital of the region of umbria... kingoftheworldmasteroftheuniverse...so i arrived in terni last night, a small city in umbria which was mostly razed during WWII, so it's not very pretty or ancient looking, just very accessible to some other places... staying with a 40 year old woman named chiara, a jazz musician and, alas, another kindred spirit...it amazes me.  i knew that people who were op...
