Well here I am back in Cusco to organise my jungle trip, I´ve spent a lot of time on buses in the last few days but it wasn´t as bad as I thought. After Arequipa I went to Ica and onto Huacachina, I thought it was a strange place. Nothing there but the oasis surrounded by restaurants and hostels, with the sand dunes in the background. The hostel had a pool and the weather was hot so I lazed around for a while before my afternoon of sandboarding (Phil you would be proud of me). 7 of us were ...

Today is all about recovery from the trek and planning my next few days. Once again unfortunately it's a Sunday so the travel agents I need to ask flight questions aren't open :( It shall also be known as 'clean clothes day' since a lot of my clothes went in to the laundry after the trek, now leaving me with an endless supply of clean shirts. Well by endless I mean four or so ;)
Basically things could pan out one of two ways from here.
Firstly, if I can get a flight from Lima to Cuzc...

This is a letter that I wrote to myself while in Peru this past August....im sure there are many spelling and grammer errors and I could have written it better. But thats not the point....I have decided to write myself an email today simply because I have not written in my journal on a daily basis, actually pretty much at all, and I need to write about the days that I have yet written about. But I cannot let today go by, rather this very hour without writting about this esceptionally spe...

First thing. Taxis. Anywhere not withing walking distance, you're pretty much going to have to use them. But they're dirt cheap and fun to ride in. They ARE going to try to rip you off. They see white faces and see $$. So kinda be wary and ask more than one taxi how much it is to different places you're going. If they see you start to ask someone else, they're going to lower their price. From the airport to the main square (Plaza de Armas or PdA from here on out... ) pay no more than 5 soles....

In november I made a roundtrip in Peru for about three weeks. I started in Lima, than travelled further to Ica, Huacachina, Nazca, Arequipa and Puno. The last places were Cusco and the mysterious city of Machu Picchu

My second day began with yet another frigid, frigid shower. I have yet to figure out the trick to hot water and can't handle more than a few splashes under that water! Holy gods, it makes your bones ache it is so cold.
I went down to make breakfast, to be greeted by the brother of the owner, Julio. He is very shy and sweet, but intimidated by me since I tower over the poor man. However, he does show me he just returned from the market with fresh eggs and bread. A little kiss on the cheek and...

Peruvian food has become the new French, Chinese or Italian. A tasty trip to Lima has a very simple recipe: don’t drink the water, lunch at Donofrios, lucuma ice cream anytime, buy hippy trinkets in Barranco, stay at the Ariosto, shop for arts and crafts at the mercaditos in Miraflores, dinner at Rosa Nautica, and an almost historic tour by private cab to the Centro de Lima. If you learn to say pisco sour you will have a great time. Music lovers, find La Peña Don Porfirio.

How do I put into words the expressions, the scents, the tastes of Peru! It's not easy. I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively through Western Europe over the past seven years and even some prior. Nothing, and I do mean nothing, compares to my Peruvian experience ... the rich culture, the people, the coca tea, Machu Picchu in all its mystery, the Andean children with their deep brown almond-shaped eyes, the alpaca, the Mestizo and Quechuan women in their traditional dress, corn...
