Cusco, which is 11,151 feet above the level of the sea, has allot of diversity, with a European feel. Have lunch on the balcony of one the many resturants overlooking the Main Square and people watch...see the colorful clothing, the school children in their uniforms, the old man on the park bench. Then explore the many Museuems and Grand Churches.

After a not so long but some turbulences flight we arrived to Lima. LAN is a great company and the service was perfect. The only problem were the turbulences. Huacachina: the Peruvian money paradise
posted by:

Huacachina is a oase in the desert. By taxi it is about 10 minutes from Ica. The one of the billets of Peru shows this place, but in real it is much nicer. In the center is a big pond and around are palmtrees and some hostels. You can walk the sanddunes, ride in desert buggies and go sandboarding!

Cusco and the surrounding area is the obvious base to get aclimatised for high altitude activities such as mountain biking above sacred valley, and trekking the Inca trail to machu Pichu, due to the airport being the only 1 for some distance. Flying into Cusco is great as the runway is flanked on b…

It was a long time ago and I don't think it's worth diarising every day of the nine days, as I can't remember! Suffice to say that Machu Picchu was at the top of my list of places to visit and I wasn't disappointed at all. The three day trek on the Inca Trail was hard work but thoroughly rewardi…
