Arrived on a bus from Copacabana and bumped into Nick (UK - met in patagonia) on the street near plaza de Armas. thought about doing one of the treks but "the inca trail" was booked out for the next 3 months so decided to cop-out on the long walk and take the train up to Machu Picchu.

Hello everybody,Well, I am on the road again. I decided to take this trip because I had some time off before my next job starts in March, and I had some frequent flyer miles burning a hole in my pocket. Walla!! You've got a three week trip to South America. But in the interest on financial responsibility I am going to try to keep the cost as low as possible. That means roughing it in cheap hotels and hostels. Now, I have been to about 40 countries but I've always maintained a certain leve...

We flew back to Lima the day after our Amazon experiences, mainly to spend the night and get ready for more adventures in Cusco and the mountains the following day. A fokloric progam in the evening introduced Peruvian music and dance styles.

I guess I should have known it before, but now I m certain of it. Life is all about choices: there is no bad or good, because at the end they all making us a bit better or a bit wiser for sure.
I have now been " on the road" for about 2 months, and my eyes have seen so much, more than I could have ever imagined, yet, I´m hungry for more and sometimes i woudl love to give up my sleep to see more, more and more. I know I can´t and I will have to make a choice, and I think so far, I m happy w...

After many sleepless hours we arrived in Lima. Our rental car was NOT what we ordered. Instead of a rugged 4x4 we ended up putting 4 people and all the bags in a KIA!!! The road down the Pacific coast was fairly well paved, and the local DOT did a great job trying to improve the scenery. However, It was fondly referred to as "lipstick on a donkey".

So, I arrived by my rickety bus from Copacabana on the 19th, fully planning on spending all day and a night in Puno. I didn't want to take a chance that the buses would be overbooked the next day, so I walked directly from my arrival door at the bus station to talk with someone in reservations for Cusco.
When I told them I was planning on spending the night and leaving the 20th the girl at the desk got flustered and was rapidly trying to tell me something about...politico...something or som...

It took three weeks of the biggest highs and lows of my life before we finally arrived. I thought it would be simple--just buy a cheap plane ticket from edreams.com and then go! The actual purchase of my ticket was the only easy thing about it! Buying a ticket from the Spain-based travel company is no problem...if, and you only find out until AFTER the purchase, you have an address in Spain. My husband and I were in Uruguay, taking a break from classes and just hanging out for a few month...

I am going to take you behind the scenes of the Amazon Animal Orphanage and Pilpintuwasi Butterfly Farm in Iquitos Peru. Most people know a little bit about the Butterfly Farm. so i already came back home from peru. i went with my mom and dad and some other relatives to go to two of my cousin's weddings there. It was my first time there which was really excited for my parents because they wanted to show me where they were born and raised. The city is huge! My uncle told me it's about 60miles wide and there's about 8 million people living in peru! i thought san francisco had a lot with it's 800,000! Lima is really beautiful at night. It's when the city is most awake...

I arrived in Lima around midnight (30 minutes late) from my trek from Las Vegas through Houston. I read that pretty much all the flights from the US land about this time and that you should allow 2 hours for customs. This worried me a bit because my contacts in Lima got me a hotel room for the night due to the fact that my next plane for Cajamarca did not leave until 5:45 am. Here I am thinking I will get 45 minutes of sleep. Well much to my surprise customs took...
