I stayed in a hostel in Northbridge, oddly enough on the Northern side of the tracks. This is a funky area full of restaurants, nightclubs and cafes. Much of it feels more cosmopolitan than the city side but since it's an easy walk over the rail overpass you know you're still in …

Rottnest ferry got cancelled due to bad weather so we went to a place called Hillarys Boat Harbour. They have an aquarium there that is small but fairly well set up, with a few fish species that I hadn't seen before!

Since I knew that I'd be making some money again soon, I decided I'd splurge on a flight out to Perth, so I could see a bit of the West Coast of Australia while I was here. So I booked a ticket for a week's trip. Spent a few nights in Perth, and then out to Freemantle, a beach area clos…

Up at 3.20 this morning in order to make our 5.45 flight to Sydney, geez it was an effort.
Got downstairs to the reception and found 2 taxi drivers waiting, I think one was the real one and one had obviously blagged his way in. I think in the end we went with the wrong one, as he didn't know the n…

Valentine’s Day… and home we go.
A touch of breakfast and head off into BSB for a last minute look around. Check out a few things that we’d found on the map that could be interesting.
Basically, we just wandered, and ate a spot of early lunch before getting back to the hotel and off to the …

My mum wanted to travel the west coast of australia for her 50th birthday. So, as expected we decided to pack our bags and jet oursleves over to the ningaloo reef/ coral bay for a weeks getaway. We swam with manta rays and had crystal clear water on our doorstep. We then made our way south towards Perth and made a necessary stopover onto Rottnest Island.. An amazing trip
Sorry for the Lack of photos also... I was reliant on my mothers camera until I invested in one of my own recently...

Had a nice day planned on a boat today but got let down at the last minute much to my disappointment. Caught the train back to town and cheered myself up with some expensive UK Hula Hoops, Revels and real Cadbury's Giant Buttons. From Birmingham, not NZ.:) Looked at changing currency for Asia but m…

Being my first massive adventure i booked alot of tours and took taxis in the beginning which i discovered i don't enjoy doing. By the end i preferred just walking around discovering things myself.

One of the biggest events in Perth! Situated in the skies above the Swan River this free two day event is almost a must see! Fantastic views from either the city side of the river or from South Perth. Day 1 is qualifying and tends to be a little quieter, day 2 is elimination day with far more excitment.
Other entertainments include all manor of fly overs, aerial stunts and extreme kiting displays!
