I had no plan to visit Malaysia on this trip other than to use it as a hub for Indonesia. I had been there 6 years ago and wasn't too impressed. Its overpriced by Asian standards and lacks a definitive culture that many of its neighbors claim. But this time I went to the Perhentian Islands and Borneo and a few places in between. While I wouldn't say its a 'must' for anyone other than nature freaks and divers willing to overpay, it grew on me and I had a good time...

Leaving the cool climate of the Cameron Highlands reluctantly behind us, we made the 7 hour journey to Kuala Besut in order to catch our speed boat connection to the Perhentian Islands.
