Perham is named after Josiah Perham, the first President of the Northern Pacific Railroad. The railroad arrived in Otter Tail County in 1871. A mercantile store was erected on the north side of the tracks the next year and Perham has been prospering ever since. The beauty is the natural resources , the landscape has been changed by Lake Agassiz which covered this area of MN less than 10,000 yrs ago. End moraines, terminal moraines, and escarpments are present throughout this landscape.

Woke up this morning to everything being coated in a fine layer of ice crystals.  The tree branches, chain link fence, the windshield...  Everything.  Out at the fairgrounds the snow was about 2 feet deep with drifts piling up around buildings.  It had been warmer the day before, and some crazy icicles formed on one of the buildings.
