Peponi Tanga Reviews
Wonderful Beach Hideaway in unspolit coastal Tanzania Mar 05, 2009
I will travel to Peponi in May 2009 . It will be my fourth visit.
The resort/campsite is run Dennys and Gilly Roberts & their hard working local staff.
It is off the beaten track on the road from Tanga to Pangani .
Tanga is roughly half way between Dar es Salaam & Mombassa.
I found the resort by chance in 2001 when i was back packing through Uganda/Kenya and Tanzania.
The chalets are all made of local materials are rustic , clean , with comfortable beds , fans, mossie nets , good hot showers .
Food is great , bfast is inc in all rates and lunch or dinner can be pre ordered each day. You choose your time to eat and pick of a quite substanstial and good value menu.
The pool is small but great for a quick dip , the beach is a stone's throw from most of the chalets .
Plenty to do or do nothing , all depends on your mood .
Go out fishing with the local fishermen , long walks on empty beaches , take a 4x4 along to Pangani , a small local town with a very relaxed and laid back atmosphere.
You can wait on the local bus , that is an experience but good fun if you dont mind crowds!
Peponi is the perfect place to chill out after a lot of travelling in TZ.
Don't expect luxury or sosphistication but do expect a great laid back time , with good food and great hosts.
