Pension Solnice Znojmo Reviews
Modern accommodation in a historic building Aug 30, 2012
Pension Solnice is a newly built modern hotel, but keeping the walls of a 17th century building that used to be a warehouse to store salt. The guesthouse is located right in the old town (historic center, only a mere ten minutes' walk from the main square.
There are only 14 rooms spread over 3 floors and since it's a new hotel, they are all in excellent condition. I had a spacious triple room on the 2nd floor, tastefully decorated with modern furniture and bright colors. I really liked the fact that part of the historic walls were visible. There was a double bed and a single bed, a table with chairs and a flatscreen tv.
The bathroom was equally spacious and had a bath tub. (though none of my cycling buddies had a bath, so I think it's only installed in the triple rooms) There was no hairdryer in the room, but it could be easily borrowed from the reception. And I have to say that the staff at reception was extremely friendly and helpful at all times!
The public areas are light and modern and I loved the plexiglass staircase to go up to the room.
Breakfast is served in the back of the lobby, where a few tables are set out. There's a modest buffet, but the staff adds items as guest come, so that the food doesn't get too warm or stale. I really appreciated that they could prepare everyone eggs up to their liking. I had scrambled eggs but they can make whichever you fancy.
There's no restaurant at the hotel for lunch or dinner, but there are plenty of options nearby. The hotel does however feature a storeage for bicycles, which can be useful if you come with your own.
This really is a hidden gem and I would definitely return when in Znojmo!
