Pension Eixere Reviews
A Gem Jun 22, 2014
We chose this hostel based on location. We had hiked to Eixere and this was the only place to stay (not the only place with rooms still available, the only place in the tiny town).
The pension keeper was very friendly and efficiently set us up in a private room (for only 10-12 euros apiece which was the same price we would pay for group rooms later in the trip). The room had two single beds usually so they added a comfortable roll-out bed for Emily. This new design made it a little tricky to get into the stand-alone wardrobe but we adapted. The room also had a little nightstand with drawers by my bed which was nice for organizing.
We had a private bathroom. The shower was small but the bathroom itself was decent sized.
The hostel had free wifi which we could access from our room. Noise was not a problem; the walls were sturdy and thick. It got a bit chilly in the evening but we had extra blankets in the room. Also, I was pleased with the number of outlets in the room.
Behind the hostel was a clothesline to help with drying our daily laundry. (There were also roosters and chickens behind the hostel but we didn't hear them, yay!) Out front was a wide patio where you could sit in the sun to read or relax. Closer to the road was a grassy area where a few tents were set up by other pilgrims.
There was a cafe across the road; eating options were a bit limited here.
While Eixere is not a normal stopping point along the Camino, I definitely recommend the Pension Eixere for any pilgrim.
