Affordable Lodging in an Expensive City May 22, 2007
I was wary of my trip to Salzburg. While I knew it was beautiful and in a stunning location, I also knew that it was an expensive city to stay in. It is a small city and a tourist magnet so most accomodations are quite pricey. The Pension Adlerhof was an exception. Although probably more expensive than similar places in other cities, it was much more reasonable than other lodging in Salzburg. It's location about 2 blocks from the main train/bus station was nice, although the old town is not really a walkable distance. The hotel was well-kept and the breakfast buffet was nice. It had an elevator which my parents appreciated. The rooms were small but clean, as were the private bathrooms. The neighborhood may appear sketchy at first glance, but we became quite comfortable with the area once we settled in. There was a nice mix of families and couples there which made for a very comfortable stay.
