The Pittsburgh Penguins are finally in the Stanley Cup finals again, which is cause for celebration. The Mellon Arena decided to open it's door and sell tickets for $ 5.00 ( all of which went to charity) and show the game on the Jumbo Tron and there was free parking. So myself and some friends and 12,000 or so other people headed to Pittsburgh to enjoy the game, granted it would've been more enjoyable had the Pens not got spanked, but never fear game 2 is right around the corner!  GO PENS!!

My Walk. Walking?
posted by:
Aug 05, 2007 - Aug 31, 2007
As I continue preparing for my journey, Im getting asked a lot about my reasons, and about things I make mention to. Ive also been asked A LOT if I have a website, or not. The answer, until lastnight, was no.However, now I DO have a website for the walk -or atleast a start of one. I would like the site to evolve beyond just my walk. I would like it to become a source of inspiration for people to 'be kind', more compassionate. I would like it to be a clearing house of information for people to...

We started off this Black Friday by putting up Christmas decorations for Grandma's home.  Actually, we started the day with Alfredo's pizza.  Nothing beats pizza for breakfast.  After making it look Christmassy, we drove to Alternative Eating to check it out.  Alternative Eating sells 100% gluten-free products.  They cater to those with Celiac disease, an incurable digestive disorder that prevents the body from digesting wheat, barley, rye and oats.  It was impre...

Doylestown and Covered Bridges Tour
posted by:

Graduation day for my nephew. As usual, being the youngest of 5 children, no ticket was available for me to attend the ceremony (just kidding sis!). So, I grabbed my GPS, camera and headed towards Doylestown, PA. It was a gorgeous day and I didn't mind being outside photographing. My first destination was Fonthill, the all concrete home of Henry Mercer (1856-1930). He built Fonthill as his home between 1908 and 1912. The concrete castle boasts 44 rooms, 18 fireplaces and more than 200 wind...

Dont make fun of Mercersburg
posted by:

Mercersburg has no Walmart, big supermarket--and hardly any fast food joints--but it does have a charming little Main Street, an Old School movie theater and the stately Mercersburg Academy...  Kind of has a feel reminiscent of an age long gone... Definitely merits a Park Bench concert...

The city of Warren isn't a place I really get a chance to trek around and enjoy much anymore. And the last time I was out it was in the negatives that morning so I didn't get to take too many photos, but here are a few of the scenery.

This will be another trip of a lifetime for me! I have always wanted to go to Alaska since I don't know when, to be honest. I've had brochures, booklets, websites saved and 4 (yes 4) DVDs of nothing but Alaska programs from the Travel, Discovery & History channels! I've got all episodes of Into Alaska with Jeff Corwin, Andrew (Bizzare Foods) Zimmerman, Big America, 1,000 Places to see-Alaska, Walking the World- Chilkoot Trail, Fearless Planet, Extreme Alaska, Travels on the Edge, various ...

A Four Hour Trip?
posted by:
Feb 29, 2008 - Mar 02, 2008
The sun was shining Sunday morning!  Checkout time from the condo was 11:00 am, but we extended it until noon.  The skiiers could get a couple hours in before packing it for home.  We didn't quite make it out before noon, but no one seemed to care.  It took more time for everyone to get things around and hauled to the vehicles.  After a quick lunch in the condo, arrangements were made to let our son, daughter-in-law, and the older two girls continue to ski, and my h...

Just down from Fort Necessity is a monument on the side of Route 40 to General Edward Braddock.  General Braddock was fatally injured in a battle at Fort Duquesene on July 9th 1756, General George Washington carried the wounded general back to the great meadow or Fort Necessity where he later died on July 13th. His body was buried in the middle of the army road which was the original national road. The army marched over the burial place so it would be obscurred a...

So the day finally arrives, and everything seems to have gone as planned, the boot is off, the shoes broke in, the packing completed. The packing, ah the packing, and the new weight limits for international flights on Continental, the bane of my vacation existence. Now I had packed and unpacked, repacked, took things out that I didn't think I would need. The suitcase had tons of room in it, I mean I didn't even have to expand it! So I was pretty confident I was under ...

Well, my big trip is coming up soon and I have to say this will be farthest I have been away from home (7,800 miles as the crow flies). I will be leaving Jan 29 and returning Feb 21. I have been preparing for this trip for about a month and a half now, which is kind of short compared to the amount of time I am spending there. I will be meeting up with my travel buddy Bernie in London to hang out for a day. Then we hop on a plane and head for New Delhi, where we have absolutely no itinerary ex...

My Bed... good night

So I woke up really late since I was out until 3AM or so the night before... I got out of bed around 11:30AM but when my mom came home from work I was still in my pajama's kicking back in the recliner with a tissue box, some cough medicine and some hot tea with honey next to me.  My mom looked overly concerned and asked if I would be able to go out to dinner and the play that night.  I told her I had to... I couldn't dissapoint my friends and I didn't want to waste the tickets! ...

The Joys of Bethlehem at Christmas Time! - Life is Good Again!
posted by:
Dec 08, 2007
Bethlehem at Christmastime, I had been waiting for this moment for the past few months.  What could be better?  My friend, Chip and I were a bit concerned on the Friday before we were to leave as we found out there was a possibility that it would snow overnight. If we ended up getting too much snow that would end all hopes of going to Bethlehem.  That could not happen!  Otherwise my dream of Bethlehem during the holiday season would be dashed until next year; it ...

Here are some pictures of Pittsburgh. It really is the city of bridges, we have 446 in the city, mainly due to the fact that we have three large rivers that go straight through the heart of downtown, which are the Allegheny, the Monongahela, and the Ohio. We have three professional sports teams, which are the Steelers (football), the Pirates (baseball), and the Penguins (hockey). The city offers a lot of fun things to do. We have great musuems, a wonderful zoo, and a fun nightlife. Ther...
