Pennsylvania State Memorial Gettysburg Reviews
Largest Memorial at Gettysburg Battlefield Jul 11, 2012
The Pennsylvania State Memorial is the largest memorial at the Gettysburg Battlefield. Dedicated in 1910 the memorial features one of the largest marble domes I have seen in the United States, the dome is supported by four smaller Roman pillars. The names of the Pennsylvania generals of the war are inscribed on the walls of the memorial.
At each corner of the memorial, a statute of the generals stand in their honor. Above them is the statutes of Curtin, the governor of Pennsylvania then and President Lincoln.
On top of the dome are statutes of winged victory, sculpted by Samuel Murray.
The names of the soldiers who fought in the war are also inscribed ordered by unit. It is definitely a befitting memorial for those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
PS: Do not leave for tomorrow, what you can do today!
