Delicious! Situated in a rural setting just off I-68 in Western Maryland, Penn Alps is a fantastic place to gather for great food and conversation. The restaurant features a variety of entrees that have been inspired by the local German, Amish and Mennonite cultures. In 1958, the founder, Dr. Anna Schrock, establshed this attraction in the rural community of Grantsville to stimulate economic and spiritual growth. She achieved this by opening the restaurant as well as a crafter's village that showcases crafters' wares from the tri-state area (Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia). Most of the activities of Penn Alps are best enjoyed in the warmer months when the crafter's village is open and the gristmill is in operation.

During the weekends and Wednesday evenings, a buffet is available to quite a reasonable price. For example, Saturday brunch features a complete cold bar, a variety of soups and hot entrees that include stuffed cabbage, fried chicken, Asian chicken, ham and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and a variety of vegetables. For your sweet tooth, you can enjoy homemade date/nut bread with fresh apple butter, pie and self-serve ice cream. All of this can be yours for only $9.99!
