Thanks to my brother in law, both of us decided to visit the War Museum on a Christmas day. This place is located south-east of Penang Island, a military fortress built in 1930's by the British to protect the island from enemies.

According to the pamphlet provided, the British Royal Engineers and a work force comprises of local labourers blasted and dug into the hill to create a fort with underground military tunnels intelligence and logistic center, halls, offices, ventilation shafts, canon firing bays, sleeping quarters, cook houses as well as medical infirmary.

Entrance Fee: 15MYR (Malaysian with ID) / 30MYR (Tourist)

Yeah,it is expensive for a museum visit but bear in mind this is a private museum. But it's good to check it out, i don't mind paying that for good first hand experience :)

Just like Soon Thiam, I have never heard of the war museum in Penang. The entrance fee is a bit high, considering that almost all other museum entrance cost around RM 2. There is also a War Museum in Kota Bharu which is really good.
